yes and no. EI is not a full-blown point-to-point carrier like Ryanair or Easyjet. They do provide connection onto their own long-hauls and they will interline with other carriers. So they are somewhere in-between (and in fact both right now) and have the infrastructure to operate as a network carrier rather than a point-to-point one.
