With the sale fares to the UK a mileage run for Platinum is pretty cheap. You can fly Friday and return Sunday Sea-LHR/LGW via LAX/DFW/ORD/JFK

I am taking 4 RT's this fall/winter for $1,988 that will be 48,667 miles, 28,667 Platinum bonus, 30,000 EUR00 bonus miles, 2,000 for online booking and 1,988 for credit card charge for a total of 111,322 not including all the Platinum benefits.
