I really love the Nuxe Honey Lip Balm, thick and works very well. I always travel with Burt's Bees lip balm, the one in the little tin. Rosebud Salve is great too.

There is a product, O'Keeffe's Working Hands, that is made for cracked hands, feet. I wonder if using it prior to travels if it will help keep hands hydrated. I have not tried it but my aunt swears by it.
