Q: time for connecting flights in Denver?
I am from Australia, and I am going to Omaha, NE for the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting at the end of April 2010. I have not been to one before - so I am looking forward to it! I am stopping over in LA and take my sister (living in Santa Ana) with me to Omaha. I have researched the most convenient flights to OMA from LAX, and decided to book flights with United (instead of going with American which flies LAX - DFW - OMA, not as direct as United which flies LAX - DEN - OMA).
I have booked and paid for my sister and myself from Australia. I have a US$ Mastercard Debit Card but could not use it on United website for payment as it required a US billing address. My US$ Mastercard Debit Card has my billing address in Australia. The currency translation made it a bit expensive for the flights! I had to book and pay in A$ through the United's Australian website.
To cut a long story short, my question is what happens if my flight LAX - DEN is delayed and we miss the DEN - OMA flight? Will United put us on the next DEN - OMA flight? What happens if this next flight is full? Will 50 minutes between flights be enough at Denver to connect flight? I am aware that on that day all flights to OMA will be very full. I don't want to miss the flight to Omaha or the BRK annual meeting as I have booked our accommodation more than 8 months ago!
I have asked United the above questions, and all they could tell me was that they would try to put me on the next available flight - (hopefully without additional costs or penalties). My flight bookings were based on available flights shown on United website, so they would be able to see that we would be on a connecting flight from DEN to OMA. There are 2 flights from DEN to OMA each day, and I have booked on the earlier flight - just in case.
Has anyone experienced this? And, could give me some insight into what would happen? Many thanks!
