I would generally agree with Mad Atta's comments, however I rather like WLG domestic, Wellington being Wellington, it has great views, and I don't think it is quite as barn like as it is made out to be.
I liked the AKL international makeover, it had become very tired, but unfortunately it has very little in the way of views.
Overall I think the bach concept is great and different to the usual run of airline lounges.
I finished my TT Xmas break yesterday, and sampled MEL International, and AKL domestic (again) on my return to NZ.
OT but compared with last year Melbourne was relatively mild - from immediately pre Xmas to yesterday, there were only two days above 40, with most being in the middle 20's and rarely in the low 30's. The five days of the Boxing Day Test were superb - all mid 20's, with one day in the early 30's, and all sunny.
MEL International in the morning was up to its usual standard, having a range of food - hot bacon and cheese croissant (delicious), bacon muffins, scambled eggs, bacon, and sausages, a variety of refrigerated muslis, and fruit somethings which looked very tempting, and other bits and pieces.
AKL domestic at night apart from the usual cold offerings had a very tasty chilli con carne with rice.
Very rough ordering following this trip encompassing food, booze, and ambiance -
MEL 1
WLG 2
AKL Domestic and International = 3
All very good though compared with the US equivalents. My only growl would be that the chairs for the computer stations are too low for an oldie like me!
