Sorry for being incredibly thick, but does this mean that a silver would not be granted advanced selection for a blue SO on a separate (TCP'ed) PNR?

If that is the case, does anybody know if it is possible to put an award booking and a cash booking on the same PNR? I've done a search and the answer seems to be 'no', with the caveat that the PNRs can be linked, but if that does not guarantee seats together, then a TCP would be useless, wouldn't it?
