Not unusually for you Mario 33, you're missing the point.
You seem to think that people who maximise the value of the frequent stay/flyer programmes are cheapskates. If that is your definition of a cheapskate, then yes of course I am a cheapskate. As are most people on this site...being that it's the whole point of it.
Yes, I used a free night stay at the St Regis Singapore. So what? I paid for the stays to earn that stay, just as I pay for the stays to earn points I use to pay for other free nights.
You seem to want to claim some sort of superiority because you used your free stay at a category 3 hotel. If you weren't a cheapskate as well, surely you wouldn't have used the free night at all and simply thrown it away?
Maybe that's what you should do next time instead at sneering at people who may, or may not, be doing exactly the same thing as you.
You could really feel superior then. I'm sure everyone would just be in awe of you.
