If you insist on a car
(for whatever reason) a convertible is going to be almost useless in March - cold and windy w/ possible rain on many days. Even if no rain it's liekly to be windy and cold, or at the best clear and cold.
If you just want a car rental place in SF NOT at the airport, I use rental cars quite often and we like Enterprise - many neighborhood locations and decent rates.
Be aware parking charges in SF hotels are exorbitant - $30, $40 , $50 a day!
