Trip Report: Best Western Chateau Granville Vancouver
Here's my report for a stay here 1/16-1/17:
Location: The hotel is located on Granville a block east of Davie Street just outside Downtown Vancouver. It's about a four block walk from the Yaletown-Round House Skylink Station and a little further to the Granville one. Being on Granville means you can walk to dozens of restaurants and bars (and porno shops) as well as two of the larger Vancouver Malls.
Hotel: The property looks univiting from the outside as it's a concrete structure in a brutalist architecture design (think Boston City Hall) and the lobby is quite small. The restaurant and bar are newer, however and it was very attractive. I didn't dine there as the prices were quite high. ($13 for eggs benedict for one)
Check In: No line when I arrived and the people at the desk were extremly helpful. This continued throughout my stay. No problems with my BW number being in the system and friendliness prevailed everytime I needed help with anything.
Room: My room was in a seperate section of the hotel called The Courtyard. To access it you have to walk across an alley that's also an active driveway and exposed to the elements. The building is old but the room was fairly nice. Large bathroom with a good shower, two chairs and a table and a small sidetable in lieu of a desk. The queen bed was tucked away in a corner. This felt like a sort of cheap junior suite. The only issue I had was that a few of the outlets didn't work.
Other: No free breakfast is given but I got a coupon for $2 off any purchase over $8 at the restaurant. I passed on this. Wireless worked well.
My rate was $65.10 with a AAA discount. I would be happy to stay here again as the location was great.
