To get to India, some other AA partner awards need fewer miles than BA. For business class you need 90K miles with ANA and 100K miles with Cathay Pacific.
ANA does not offer a routing to India without an overnite layover (I do not know if I get a hotel); in fact the flight search on ANA does not even show up the fare. In ansy case, I do not wish to spend 36 hours travelling even if I get a hotel. And ANA is a *Alliance member.
Cathay Pacific does not fly to Delhi where I need to go; they only fly to Mumbai (BOMbay). Asiana has a 90K award to India, but I would prefer not to travel Asiana from the East Coat since it is mainly a trans-Pacific airline. BA is THE OW airline with extensive flights to India (about 14 a week), specially from the US East Coast. AA needs to ensure that award routings on BA to India are competitive.
I would not be so distraught if I had not promised my wife a Business Class trip to India next March

.
incorrect info deleted And my systemwides (coming in Dec) would not work on BA metal
