Thanks for the SFO idea, but we are hoping to start there and work our way down the coast to the warmer weather!!
I don't mind spending the extra miles on First but at the moment we still can't come back the day we would want to anyway (even in F) and most people feel it's a bit of a waste for the inbound flight as I hope to sleep most of it and can definitely do that in Club.
That then leaves me a spare 25k miles to MFU the next trip.

There always seems to be less availability in Club nowadays compared to First. And there is no guarantee extra seats will open up. If you're headed around the SFO area have you checked Club seats there?
Though for an extra 25,000 miles for two I'd go in First, but I'd rather do it there than back. But if only First is available then you have very little choice if you want to use the 241. Well there's always WT+ I guess!
