I guess I feel that these second tier markets in China represent the next big opportunity so I applaud airlines that proactively establish themselves in them.
while Hangzhou recently has seen a huge influx of foreigners, many of them moving from Shanghai, I still do not see a reason for a direct flight from Europe or US. Perhaps the move is due to perceived or real difficulties in operating from PVG, but the relative easy connections between the two cities shall make them irrelevant. Plus, i guess the Chinese government is not too keen to see foreign airlines serving directly second tier cities thus taking away traffic from the national carriers. Anyway let's see how the situation evolves, as you said it may be the next huge opportunity.
