I did state yesterday that I had called HHonors but the CSR knew nothing about what we are discussing here. Right? Remember? Well, this evening I emailed HHonors to request clarification. I'll let you know when and if I hear back from them. But please look at my emphasis in my last post. I do not care about the extension if it will just apply to me without rhyme or reason. Got it?

With faculty appointments at two Ivy League Medical Schools in Manhattan, I am a serious thinker for whom consistency in anything is the first law of its potential validity.

Below is my email...

Dear HHonors Representative:

I am contacting you because I felt that an ongoing online discussion/debate could be easily settled if we had an official injection of information from an HHonors representative. Here's the link to the thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13189215-post1.html, which was started when the original poster wrote the following:

"Did anyone else get their new card today? In spite of having stayed 1 night last year, I was pleased to find I'm Diamond through March 2012 (earned status for AMEX spend).

Anyone else receive a card today and an extra year?"

We need to know:

1. Whether HHonors knowingly did extend certain Diamonds' tier status for 2 years, to 03/2012, instead of the usual 1 year (to 03/2011) as is stated in the HH terms and conditions.
2. If the extended tier status is not an error or a system glitch, it would be helpful if HH's rationale for singling out selected Diamonds for this extension could be provided.
3. If this is a deliberate decision by HH and not a system glitch, is the decision based on AMEX Surpass spending? So far, it appears that those who have been selected for the 2-year Diamond tier status extension achieved their status through AMEX Surpass spending. As you can imagine, the perception that AMEX Surpass spending might now be given higher consideration than traditional hotel loyalty is not sitting in too well with those, like me, who earned the Diamond status through countless nights/stays spent at various Hilton properties.


Thousands of HHonors members participate in this online forum discussion so that many are wondering about what I just requested clarification on above.
