Intersting to see the comparisons of the CCR and the TG F lounge.

I have only used the CCR twice and that was on the same trip in November, outbound and inbound. I really like it, particularly the lack of people as it never seemed to get anything like full. We were sat outside for a couple of hours with not a single other person there. We also enjoyed the breakfast on the way back, although we were rather bemused to have to stand around for 30 minutes waiting for the lounges to open when flights were already arriving. Sure the service was not as quick as you get in the TG F lounge at times, but that is true of most hotels, restaurants etc here compared to that part of the world as they can afford to employ more staff.

As for those raving about the TG F experience in Bangkok. I will agree that on arrival it is very nice as they will meet you at the aircraft and will escort you on foot or in a buggy depending what gate you arrive at. In the last year or so since the political issues and downturn it wasn't always necessary as the queues at immigration were not big. But the last few times I have arrived they have been it has been handy as the queues were back.

As for departure I have actually stopped using the F checkin at BKK because it takes too long!. I have no idea what they do at the F checkin desks but it's at best five, usually ten but sometimes fifteen minutes to get your BP's there. I can't be ar*ed with all that so I just go to the J checkin next to it and am through immigration 2-3 minutes later.

What do I lose doing this ? Porter service, but I never have checked bags anyway so I don't need that. Escort through immigration ?. Nice, I suppose, but you use the same immigration channel as J pax anyway so nothing lost there. Buggy to the F lounge ?. Yep, but it's a two minute walk through the J lounge on D pier and I could do with the exercise anyway. The massage is a nice and I do use it, but more for a time killer and the novelty factor than it being anything special.

The food in the F lounge used to be excellent, but they 'enhanced' it a few months ago cutting the chefs and half the staff along with a number of the food choices. It's still very nice don't get me wrong, but it's not what it was.
