www.voegol.com is a horrific site which often stalls or crashes. Booking with Visa/MasterCard credit card is not possible even if the site says it is.When you book GOL as a connecting flight on AA.com it often says " Flights no longer available" as you are about to finish your booking. I have never had more frustration with any airline more than GOL. Never -ever try to buy tix at GOL airport ticket office. Prices at ticket office is often 2X - 3X of what you see on web-site and staff is slow because their reservation system is old and primitive. There are often last minute gate changes which are only shouted out by gate agent in Portugues, so always go to gate early and be alert.
My latest flight on them was in early December Since they are not in OneWorld you do not get any extra benefits. At least I have not figured out any. I am not sure if they have a club but you probably do not have access. You could earn miles starting August 1 2009. and redeeming miles is scheduled for "Early" 2010 after initially being stated as " Late 2009 ". Guess it is all relative Brazilian terms "more or less" . Their planes are (relatively ) new B737-700 and their domestic route network is large and international route network is growing ( SCL,BOG,LIM,EZE ). On their website they list a English speaking Customer Service telephone number in Sao Paulo. Making reservation there is OK but they still can not process Visa/MC so they will put reservation on hold for you until 2 hours prior to departure. Only benefit of that is that you get the web price with the option of just not taking the flight and not pay penalty. Just remember to have them read back to you VERY carefully how they spelled your entire name ( 1 error and they will never find your reservation again) and write down EVERY detail of your conversation, i.e reservation code, flight numbers times etc. Sometimes they claim a flight does not exist even though their website says it does. After awhile you start wondering about your own sanity. Do not rely on them saying that hey will email your itinerary. I have booked with them more than 15 times and NEVER had an E-mail. Once you are onboard the plane things are normally OK.
I have used GOL quite extensively over the last several years and have found booking on their website quite painless. I have had no issues with acceptance of my credit card (I use AMEX). I always get confirmation emails (in fact they usually send two of everything). Selecting seats from the website is very easy and even cancelling tickets and getting a refund from the website is quite easy. I do not speak Portuguese. My miles post very fast to AAdvantage.
