Welcome to FT, opus. Just having stayed at both hotels, my two cents, fwiw:

When you return w/ the kids for your 10th anniversary stay at the Poipu GH, but for a honeymoon, the St. R. hands down....South Pacific and Jurassic Park were filmed on that part of the Island for a reason and while the GH is great, the St. R. is memorable.
