this much i know: you can book club level rooms with points at the JW. you cannot at the ritz. so even though you might spend more points at the JW, the club level makes it well worth it. free food, free booze, etc. as long as you don't plan on leaving the resort too often (and if you're staying at either of these places, why would you?) the upgrade with points to the club level at JW makes it a far superior deal to a regular room at the ritz.
and from my personal experience, while ritz carltons are very nice, they almost never end up being worth the price. and they are not very eager to upgrade marriott rewards members who are using points. last time i did it (in the georgetown ritz) they put me in what must have been the worst room in the hotel.
