Beware of SVO checks! I do not know the current situation for transits but they were very strict (to not say more... ) with liquid checks.
One year ago I saw a policemen with dozen of bottles behind him...
The least to say is that he was very efficient!
Kidding apart, Russia has to deal with terrorism and I think that's why they strictly apply the rule especially towards EU and USA flights.
