Looking for a warm-weather beach vacation around Memorial Day, and thinking about St. Maarten or Aruba. We have a 18-month old who loves the beach and water.

Prior to kids, we liked to get out and explore, but this vacation will probably be mostly beach/pool in the morning, lunch, nap, etc...any thoughts for St. Maarten vs Aruba in terms of kids. Understand that the Dawn Beach hotel in St. Maarten is newer, and looks to be more low-rise resort style vs the high rise in Aruba.

Currently a Plat, but will lose my status by them, unfortunately.

Been to St. John a couple of times, including a stay at the Westin, and would like to try something new.
