I just received 9 toll violation notices from AVIS for running Illinois tolls. It looks like this is managed by some company called Highway Toll Adminstration, LLC and they say they will automatically charge the $.80 toll plus $25 fee per violation to your credit card unless you appeal. My question is, is there any way to appeal this or have some recourse to waive the admin fees? I am not sure if the state charges AVIS these transaction fees (i am sure this company has worked out some type of deal with the state) but the Illinois late fees are much higher than this $25 fee. It said if you have a valid ipass account, fax a copy?. I have some people i know in chicago - what if i give them their account numbers?

Any way to fight this?
