I'm planning to fly from LON to KOA, and then back from LIH to LON. I have enough miles to upgrade both ways provided I buy a YB ticket. If I call reservations to make the booking and get them to check upgrade availability first and they book my ticket and put the upgrade through there and then, am I guaranteed to fly in business, or can I be bumped back to economy for someone with higher status or a full fare payer?

I'm really worried because I'm disabled, and could never manage such a long flight in economy. If I were bumped, chances are I would end up in an unsuitable seat (I normally have to request specific seats) and might be seperated from my husband, who I can't travel without for health reasons.

If there is a risk of being bumped, does anyone know if there's anyway of getting a note of my situation made by United so they don't bump me to a seat I can't sit in? We've always dreamed of going to Hawaii, so I'm desperate to find a way to make it work.

Any help hugely appreciated

thanks

I had a horrible experience where the website said they would accept it, and no one in the system said they would. I was even blocked from checking in. United finally changed the policy on the website. Be very careful here and get the name of any agent you speak with.
