Stayed many times previously at the same hotel under different hotel chains. The renovations have made this DT quite nice. The rooms and beds are nicer than the Rockville Hilton ones plus you get a DT cookie at check-in. The breakfast is better at the Rockville Hilton, but there are more good restaurants within walking distance to the DT. I don't know what Hilton status you have, but the one thing that sways me to the DT is that there is a pantry for elite level guests. The pantry has soft drinks, ice cream, candy, chips, oatmeal, microwave food, etc.

DT is closer to the NIH, but if you need the metro, you have to take a shuttle bus. Rockville Hilton is across the street from the metro and you can just take that directly to the NIH stop.
