Noboby but the hotel porter would see it anyway...and I doubt he/she would serve you better because of it.
As a former InterContinental employee (an actual IC hotel, not the group), I can say that porters and doormen do look out, and are required to look out, for PC tags. We had many Royal Ambassadors who used their tags at check-in, and that usually means the porter takes them right up to the club lounge for check in (if there is no dedicated guest relations desk). Also, my recent visit at IC BKK, I saw several PC-tagged guests taken right up to Club Level for check-in. Not sure if all hotels are following the rules though..

Of course, we also had TONS of PC members who don't use their tags, and then get upset when no one recognizes that they're Plat/Amb./RA at check-in!! Wave that status around - you earned it!!
