I might be assuming too much, but what were your thoughts on the Samuel Adams Utopias?
I've had three different vintages at various times; all of them have struck me as not very beer-like and, if I'd been paying for it, not really worth the hype-driven price.

I'd describe Utopias as syrupy and cognac-like, completely uncarbonated and a bit overly sweet with notes of butterscotch and vanilla. Here's a link to
some tasting notes for Utopias (not mine).
Although,
a beer bar in Richmond, Va. got a bottle of Utopias and they raffled off ($5 a chance) two-ounce tastes to 12 winners with all the money raised going to Haitian relief. If I'd been down there, that is a glass of Utopias I would have happily paid for.
