Getting to Akutan is an awesome adventure in itself. Technically, you could hike to the Pacific, but that would be quite a ways, especially hauling a board and camping gear. You could probably get somebody to drop you off in a skiff, which would make the hike much more feasible. In any event, it would be a fun adventure.

If you google surfing and Burke Mees, you'll find a couple of articles he's written about surfing Alaska. He's a Goose pilot. When I lived out there, I heard stories about him scouting out a lot of Aleutian waves and surfing them. He'd be the person to track down if you really wanted to some solid first-hand information. He's the only person I've heard of who has surfed Akutan.
