Well, in the end I could not resist the better points "bargain" and decided on the Ritz.

I called and did confirm we are responsible for the (now) $35.00 per night resort fee but no 10% service charge, and of course the taxes are included in the room rate. So for $245.00 plus 190,000 points, getting a $5,000 room at the Ritz is a better deal than 180,000 points for a $3,200 room at the Marriott.
