I think only ONCE in my lifetime on CO did someone read my personal name tags on the BAGS and match boarding passes....which I thought was completely ludicrous.
Flying PHX-IAH-IAD in December for Christmas, my girlfriend and I were in the same PNR and checked a total of 3 bags (1 for me, 2 for her). My bag tag printed out first but one of my gf's bags was on the scale. The agent wouldn't tag it, and instead asked me to put mine up so the bag with my name on it would have a tag with my name on it too.
On the return, same 3 bags, and there was no matching of the tags to the bags.
