I think it is very simple, you go to the kiosk, you punch in your max allowable bags that you need (let's say 10), the printer will print off 10 bag tags, you show the 4 BPs and the id's for the 4 BPs and start handing over bags. I don't think they will question you. Your "friends" can just check in "with no bags"

I think only ONCE in my lifetime on CO did someone read my personal name tags on the BAGS and match boarding passes....which I thought was completely ludicrous.
I wouldn't be surprised if that starts happening -- with all the security concerns.
Just remember, those bags are on YOUR PNR, which means that if the bags get lost, etc. they are your responsibility...let's say you get tossed off the flight for causing "a disturbance" or get IDB'd, they you AND your friends bags may get removed from the plane.
Your last point is a very valid one. ^ Also -- limits his ability to take advantage of a VDB if he's got his friends' bags checked in under his name!

It seems to me that the 'friends' should take advantage of the fee-free baggage allowance that they are entitled to (confirming same, of course) and if there are still bags over their 'allowance' -- then use his 'excess' allowance & check those bags under his name.
