I hear that, but I usually do the opposite.I drive up to BDL from the EWR area since its usually alot cheaper for me to fly say BDL-EWR-LAX then EWR-LAX. I do this a few times a year usually when I needed to reposition myself out West for a European trip out of EWR
Yea I posted correctly I would find a very cheap flight to Europe out of SFO so I flew to SFO starting in BDL since EWR was 3x the price to SFO.Then I flew back to EWR from SFO to get the European flight I wanted. So it ended up like BDL-EWR-SFO-IAH-EWR-BFS-EWR-SFO-EWR-BDL (2 tkts) and cost me in the end $40 less then the EWR-BFS would have but scored a ton more EQMs besides saving the $40
as for hotels try marriott.com and put in PKF in the code box and see what comes up
