As discussed before, there are those (including me) who have lost their Elite tags due to breakages and there are those who do not put them on at all with regards to checked baggage. It's not like I'm some sort of celebrity but I don't really feel like putting my whole life story on my baggage such as my address etc. I'm funny about that for some reason.
Anyway, I had some delayed baggage in December, and I couldn't stop wondering in bed that night as to whether or not the paper airline luggage labels had come off in transit so I did some internet googling and decided to invest in some metal luggage tags from a company called I-Trak
http://www.i-trak.com/home.aspx which have coded engraved on the tags. They also have telephone, email, website and airline telex contact details on them for the finders. Obviously, you have to register the tags before you use them.
They cost me £3.99 or about $6 each but they're not likely to break as the tag is metal and loop is a wire cable. I feel much more confident about my luggage now.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with similar companies or services? To be honest, I would like AA to offer metal luggage tags as I would certainly pay for them.
