Good idea about using it for the program extension - I'm definitely going to have to take advantage of that. Do you know if I can do this for my wife's accounts? She got 10,000 miles from UA for graduating from college, and she never flies on paid tickets on UA (or paid tickets on any airline at all

) - the miles expire in April of this year unless she has some activity. I imagine her name would need to be on the reservation in order for that to work. I know it's only 10,000 miles, but still...
BTW, her situation wouldn't be a problem except for that AMEX MR doesn't convert to UA miles - what's up with that?
I never fly UA but I have something like 19,000 miles with them and I need just another 6,000 to get a vanilla domestic RT - my wife is always wanting to go somewhere to visit her parents or sister or accompany me on a business trip, etc, so it's nice when I have some miles in a program I don't care about to book for her. She loves it because I could care less about those miles and she gets to go places. For me, I just don't want 19,000 miles to go to waste! I'm going to try to find the easiest way to get those 6,000 miles - maybe an Avis bonus??? I'll have to put my detective cap on.
