Thanks so very much for all your help. We are already back home after two long days of airports. Being a foreigner and having no friends in town made the issue difficult to handle but thanks to your advise we took all the precautions and took pictures of the property and electrical appliances with a newspaper of the day in the front.

Stupidly, I did not find it necessary to take Home Away's insurance. I had such good previous experiences that I did not find it necessary.

I'll wait a couple of days and if I haven't heard from them regarding the deposit, I'll write to Home Away. There is an option to comment on the properties which I'll certainly do once I get my deposit back.
