As discussed in the Canadian Airlines forum, AA currently has a special promotion to keep their Canadian members in oneworld, and encourage us to fly more on AA, of course. Seems anyone with an active basic account has received "limited" GOLD, while those who have GOLD already (which was my case) were elevated to PLATINUM. Nobody has yet indicated they have gone from PLATINUM to EXECUTIVE PLATINUM, which is a level I don't expect AA -- or any carrier vis a vis their top tier -- would comp.
