I just bought a codeshare LAX-ORD rt ticket, outbound was offered with UA direct routing, return was ONLY CO connections in Houston.

Seat assignments are offered on the UA opperated flight, but then not assigned...stupid.

So then I go to united.com as a poster here suggested with the ticket number, I can indeed find my reservation, but when trying to assign seats there on the UA operated flight I get this message:

Seat maps are unavailable for this flight. If this is a codeshare flight or a flight operated by a partner airline, please contact the operating carrier for seat map review and seat assignments.
