Let me take that back - if I select "ALL" - I get DCA-ORD with CO flight numbers on UA metal.
Looking at dates in August, UA is $628+ RT, versus CO at $184+ RT. CO is via CLE or EWR.

I suspect those UA flights will come down. But I am not stupid - if these were the choices, I would likely continue to fly CO DCA-CLE-ORD (like I have many times in the past) for the huge fare difference.
Did a one way search for DCA-ORD on 1/29, non-stop only checked - every single flight showing is UA metal (about ten choices, 100ea roughly).

In any case, as mentioned previously, everytime you book a code share, assigning seats is always mildly annoying. Call ticketing carrier to find out the record locator for the operating airline's locator. Use UA's locator directly with UA (likely need to call) for seats.
