Why do you say that? If you book 2 seats, and call in to lock them together, why would your 2nd seat not be as guaranteed as your first?
Proposal was to buy a third coach seat so the two of them could have three-across and spread out. My point was that if plane is packed they might not be able to assure that (i.e., they will be on the flight, but not be a row of three with an empty seat between them).
