Holland America Lines does not nickel and dime you nor pollute the air with unnecessary PA announcements. They represent the best cruising value out there. They have some of the largest cabins, consistently good service and best itineraries.
They may seem "old fashioned" for a lot because they have not succumbed to a lot of glitz, but I think they maintain the best of old world cruising and hope they never change the unique cruising niche they have created.
And they have the best fresh baked bread items on the high seas. Dinner entrees are sometimes mediocre in the main dining, but all other courses and dining alternatives make up for that. Their smaller ships remain their best value. For the money you save on the cruise, you can enjoy some great meals elsewhere when you get home.
I do not want to leave the impression that the food is bad, because it is not. It is the entrees only where they are not premium, just okay while the rest of the food service on these ships is pretty remarkable. They have to cut corners somewhere to provide this level of travel value and this is okay with us. We never leave hungry and we always look forward to each and every meal as lovely events to make our day.
