Don't know if other OW carriers, or combination of them, might offer better options. Also curious - is it possible to route a DOWE3 ticket between BAH (Mid East), South Africa (JNB), and HKG? Since it all has to be one direction around the world, this didn't appear possible either. Maybe Circle Trip Explorer instead?
Would appreciate any constructive suggestions or thoughts. Many thanks in advance.
For the purposes of the Oneworld Explorer, the Middle East is treated as part of Europe, so a route like, say, BAH-LHR-JNB-HKG is perfectly legal.
The only non-Africa Oneworld access points to S. Africa are LHR, MAD, HKG and SYD. BAH-XXX-HKG-JNB would not be allowed since Europe (including the ME) and Africa are in TC 2 (one of the 3 global "regions") while Asia is in TC 3 (Asia and "SW Pacific") and the rules require an easterly or westerly progression from TC 1 - TC 2 - TC 3 - TC1 (or v.v.) without backtracking. Backtracking is allowed within individual continents, but not between them, with a few exceptions, and never between TC regions.
The Circle Explorer might work for you, e.g. BAH-LHR-JNB-CPT-JNB-HKG-AMM-BAH or some such.
