(Side question - these are revenue tix, but does it make any difference if they are reward tix?)
I am traveling with non-elite friends and would like to check some of their luggage so they don't have to pay the fees (that have now gone up).
I believe non-elites flying to AUA get the first bag free (50 pounds), correct?
So, assuming I don't have 3 bags for each of my family members, I could check in some of their luggage to help them avoid the fee beyond the first bag. Right?
Thanks for your help.
You seem to have a few different questions.
1. Do friends of Golds/Plats get 3 x 70 lb luggage allowance?
A: No, they get a 2 x 50 lb luggage allowance. I have found some agents
allow 'more' than 50 lb, since I (the Gold/Plat) am flying, but the rule is 50
lb. You must be flying with them (but need not be on the same PNR).
2. Does it matter if the ticket is reward/revenue?
A: No.
3. Does every PAX get one free bag to AUA?
A. Check the new baggage policy. But the question is moot, based on the
fact that you are flying with them, and so #1 applies.
4. Can I check bags for my family?
A. You can check any bags you want, up to 3 x 70 lb.
