It would probably be helpful to advise the travel agent that you did upgrade yourself. If the ticket hasn't been issued already, it may cause him or her uncessary time and concern while figuring out what you did and how to ticket it. Doesn't the original ticket have to be issued in economy, then the change made? Just a thought.
