I just bought a no name brand camera bag which has padding on all sides, is rectangular cube shape, 28 in long, 10 in high and 10 in wide. The padded inserts for inside the bag can be removed, so one is left with a nicely shaped, padded bag with an open flap with two zippers on top of the bag. There is one square shaped 8 x 8 x 2 in pocket on one side of the bag.

The reason I got the bag is that the bag is light (no wheels on the bag), padded making the bag quite firmly shaped, and because it's 28 inches long, a tennis racquet just fits though the face of the racquet may cause that part of the bag to stick out just a bit, though one could put the racquet face in diagonally.

My question is whether the bag experts here think I will be able to convince any airline check-in staff, the security staff, or the young ladies at some departure hall entrance that I should be able to bring this bag in as carry on luggage. It's total linear dimensions are 48 inches, greater than the usual norm of 45 inches, and clearly it will not fit lengthwise into the carry on cage used at some airports to measure carry on luggage. My next big trip will be on Eva Air, Continental, and Kuwait Airways.

My main reason for getting this bag (cost was only US$23.00) was because I could pack a tennis racquet into it, and I would not have to hassle with a normal carry on bag with a tennis racquet sticking out, and then having to deal with checking in just a tennis racquet in case security will not allow a racquet to be brought on board. In some airports, a racquet is OK to bring onboard, and other airports, not.

This bag can also double as a normal tennis bag that most tennis players use to bring their racquets and gear to tennis sessions. I don't like using the normal tennis bags with the brand logos on them, the irregular shape of the bag, etc.

If anyone wishes to see an image of this camera bag, let me know here and I'll post an image.
