I lived in Singapore for a number of years and visit this island in Malaysia called Tioman Island.
If you are looking for beaches and coral. In my opinion, this is the best place to go.

Lodging is very cheap because it is not a well publicize. A hidden gems for the local. We spent less than US$50 a night with a beach front.

I remembered paying less than US$100 for a ferry from Singapore to Tioman. I think the direct ferry might have been terminated.
You can still fly or go there via mainland Malaysia
