I am under the impression that the reasons for systematic delays of AF84 might be its relatively early departure and the fact that AF operates only one daily flight to SFO. Selling tickets with a 45 min connection at CDG doesn't help, of course, given that CDG has become a huge airport with relatively long walks between checkpoints (yes, terminal 2E/S3, I am talking to you).
I have read somewhere that AF will introduce a second daily service to SFO (AF80) during the next summer season. Let's hope it will release the pressure on AF84 and that AF will not be forced to wait for too many delayed connecting passengers at 10:40.
I have never understood the logic of holding a flight for connecting passengers at CDG, thereby causing other passengers to miss connections at the other end or, even worse, lots of other passengers taking the now delayed return flight to miss theirs. This is robbing Peter to pay Paul. The only "logic" I guess is that the misconnects become someone else's problem.
