Not sure I understand why the TGV is the better choice. It takes a few minutes under 6 hours to get from CDG to Cannes on the TGV (and that is the direct train option which is not that frequent) which is a hell of a long time. Even the indirect options are few and far between are you are looking around 7 hours.

I travel regularly to that same region in France from the UK and as much as I would prefer to take the train, it simply takes too long making the plane out of either LHR or LGW always the better option. NCE despite a requisite transfer at LHR, CGD, AMS, FRA or any other Euro hub is always going to be the better option.
