This happens to me every time I go to Las Vegas (apparently smoking capital of the USA). I don't smoke, stay in non-smoking hotel rooms and don't spend too much time in the casinos. Nevertheless, the few pieces of clothing that do get exposed to smoke force me to launder the entire contents of the suitcase, even the stuff I never got a chance to wear. Plus, I usually have to set the suitcase outside on the patio for a couple days to let it air out before I put it away.

It's funny, but when there was smoking everywhere, I never noticed it!
