Could use some expert car renter help quick! need under 25 rental for next week!
like the title says, im in a bit of a squeeze. The gf and I will be taking a cruise next week departing from LA. Were arriving a few days early and need a car to drive around in for a few days.
We will need a car Jan 21 (noon), picked up from LAX. We would like to drop it off as close to the San Pedro Pier on Sunday January 24 (11ish AM). We would also need it for another day, renting from closest to the pier on Sunday, January 31 (1030am-ish) and returning at LAX February 1, 1030am.
The other catch is that we are both under 25 as well, so any under 25 waives would be greatly appreciated as well. If we ABSOLUTELY have to, we can go and get the executive costco membership that should waive that fee for us.
So far these are the best rates i've found
For the first 3 day rental - using costco code - A017600
LAX-LG2 = $83.80 all in (no further coupons added)
For the last day rental
TO7-LAX = $96.08 all in (no further coupons added) PS. LG2 to LAX was something in the $180's
I like the budget rental because both locations look like they offer pickup service which would be good in getting us to/from those rental locations and to the pier (i think).
My Avis Reservations looks as follows
First 3 day Rental
LAX-LB5 = $75 All in using code D005297 + MUWA158
Last Day Rental
LB5-LAX = $64 All in using code D005297
Now with avis, it seems as though they wont offer shuttle service to the port, so a taxi or something would be an extra cost to consider.
Our first options was to go with national, as i was able to get the first 3 days in at $56, and the last day for $35, however, those would be lax-lax trips, and we would need shuttles from lax to the port and back. That would be about another $80 to factor in the cost.
All in all, if AVIS seems to work out, i think that might be the best choice unless budgets' prices drop, or whomever can provide a reliable under 25 waive.
Hopefully some of you can shed some light!
TIA Flyertalk!
