They are made by the same people. I THOUGHT the travelpro was a cleaner, lighter, less frilly version.

My girlfriend has that bag in brown. The Atlantic is maybe a 1lb or 2 heavier than my Travelpro bag. It is a tad frillier w/ the comfortable leather handles. The retractable handle is also a lot tougher and it has better balance (my travelpro falls more often than a drunk). My old year 2000-ish edition of that bag survied about 500 trips before an esculator at a United Red Carpet club ate it. The inline wheels will need to be replaced every now and again like all bags. The only abnormal wear I had was that the zipper tabs break off (that bag has the same zipper tabs) and the retractable handle cover's zipper ripped completely off (I just tucked that in) - zipping it up when you check it will fix that. If I didn't buy her the chocolate colored bag, I would steal it.

I recommend getting your dad the blue bag vs. the back as less people will fondle it when he checks it. All black bags look alike and someone is likely to walk off with one accidently (stupidly).
