Such incidents are not restricted to vietnam. They happen in Australia, in singapore, in thailand and other places.

You can talk to the hotel manager but if it was me, i would insist on some form of compensation whether in terms of points or credits towards the room. Unless the hotel takes a financial penalty, the staff will never learn that such behaviour or communication techniques are unacceptable.
I have to agree. As a woman, no matter the circumstance, I would be upset that where was an inference (no matter what was said) that I am a prostitute or that I had to explain my reasons for being in a hotel I was paying for. The hotel should know their customers -- clearly your wife checked in with you -- I am sure that they could have done some checking to see that a husband and wife were staying in the room. This is an international hotel chain -- they, and there staff, should be held to generally accepted standards.
