Almost every time when I open my luggage after the inbound TATL via JFK my luggage is smelling like an overfull ash tray! Concerning my trip two days ago, my luggage arrived two days late and after I opened it I would not have been surprised to find some old cigarette butts in it, judging by its smell.

Even I, sometimes a smoker, am highly disgusted by that, especially after learning that the clothes have taken on the smell. I usually pack all my stuff in little sealed plastic bags but this time I had to learn that those were opened They even failed to put in the usual little paper from the TSA.

Has anyone of you made the same experience? My only explanation would be that the luggage from foreigners is opened and screened in a smoking environment ...
