Can someone in CATSA explain why all these restrictions are in place only for US-bound passengers, while persons going from Toronto to Mexico or South America, who fly for many hours over US territory, have no such restrictions (and have not yet blown up in the sky)?
Because TSA doesn't mandate anyone (14 countries or not) flying to non-US destinations to be hand-screened.
Again, this has now come down to Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms which forbids discrimination against people (citizens or not) based on country of origin, so we're all treated to the same mess together.
